Mir loses podium as four riders penalised post-race

Joan Mir has lost his and Honda’s Catalan Grand Prix MotoGP podium due to a tyre pressure infraction.Mir’s second-place finish was immediately revealed as being in jeopardy after the conclusion of the 12-lap race (the third attempt of running the grand prix, after two red flags) as an investigation was announced.And it was confirmed nearly two hours after the finish that he would not escape the customary 16-second sanction – and thus that he would give up what was a third grand prix podium finish in his time at Honda.The sanction to Mir comes as a surprise given he spent much of the restarted race in the wheeltracks of KTM’s Pedro Acosta, which should’ve in theory helped him keep the front tyre pressure above the minimum threshold.Gresini Ducati rider Fe …
