With the introduction of the 2023 model year Colorado and Canyon, the largest automaker of the Detroit Big Three simplified the powertrain lineup to a single engine family with three output levels. The mid-tier L3B was deleted for 2024, and 2025 saw General Motors remove the L2R base specification.
