Airbags In The CrosshairsCar parts like the catalytic converter have long been common targets of theft. But in Detroit, airbags are increasingly being stolen, with 7 News Detroit reporting a recent case involving a brand-new Chevrolet Trailblazer.According to the owner, replacing the airbag costs $2,000, money that could have gone toward home renovations. Security camera footage showed the thief hanging through the window of another car parked next to the Trailblazer while trying to steal its airbag, which was taken in just seconds. Making matters worse, the owner said she did not use insurance because coverage in Detroit is “insane.”
