2027 Subaru Getaway: Dual-Motor Electric SUV Is its Most Powerful Vehicle Yet

Subaru’s gone gangbusters on electric vehicles this year: an updated Solterra landed first, followed by the 2026 Uncharted and 2026 Trailseeker we told you about last month. 

Now it’s time for the biggest EV news of all, the three-row, seven-seat 2027 Subaru Getaway. The running gear? It’s shared with the Toyota Highlander EV, down to the battery pack and motors that make it Subaru’s most powerful vehicle ever.

Due later this year, the 2027 Getaway will launch with a dual-motor layout paired with a 95.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. Outfitted with a NACS charge port, this 420-hp Getaway has an estimated range of more than 300 miles from full charge. That’s on par with some of its important rivals, but its charging rate caps out at 150 kw, which means filling the pack from 10 to 80% might take a half-hour. Early next year the Getaway will add a 77.0-kWh battery pack option, which will retain a dual-motor layout and Subaru’s calling card, all-wheel drive.
