This Dodge Daytona was produced in 1982–1983 as part of a collaboration between Dodge and the paint company PPG, and it served as a pace car for the Indy Car World Series for 1983 and 1984 as well as a concept car for the forthcoming Dodge Daytona Turbo Z. Built on a modified version of Chrysler’s four-door K-car platform (as the Daytona platform was not yet in production), the vehicle features a one-off steel-bodied exterior that was finished in 21 coats of blue PPG paint with white and orange accents.
