Castrol was founded by Charles Wakefield under the name ‘CC Wakefield & Company’ in 1899, when he left Vacuum Oil to start a new business selling lubricants for trains and heavy machinery. While researching oils for automobiles and airplanes, Wakefield found that adding a measure of castor oil, a vegetable oil made from castor beans, helped the motor oil remain both viscous at cold temperatures and thick enough to keep functioning at higher temperatures. He called the new product “Castrol.”
The sign features a raised Castrol logo and Premium Lube Express script on a translucent front panel in green, red, and white. The sign weighs about 25 pounds. Illumination is provided by 120-volt LEDs, and an on/off toggle switch is found on the side.
The frame of the sign is metal with silver-finished sides and a white-finished back. Pre-drilled mounting holes are found on the back of the sign.
A Dualite label is affixed to the side of the sign, and additional labels are shown in the gallery. …
