Volkswagen Could Pay $1.75 Billion in Fines as EV Sales Fall Short of Targets

It’s tough not to associate news about Volkswagen and emissions with the Dieselgate scandal, but on the latest occasion, the automaker may be in trouble with the authorities for reasons that are not its own making, at least not directly. As reported by Motor1, Volkswagen could be forced to pay as much as $1.75 billion in fines because its EVs haven’t been as popular as necessary for the automaker to meet overall emissions targets, and that leaves VW in a serious predicament.
